Nis – Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said for the RTS that the entire Serbia, from Subotica to Presevo, was under epidemiological surveillance. 

Dr. Tiodorovic pointed out that there were fewer and fewer patients who required hospital treatment and that the number of infected persons depended on the number of those tested.

Dr.Tiodorovic stated that when a hot spot with five new cases or more emerged, there was a slight increase in the number of corona virus patients.

However, he stated that there were fewer and fewer patients on respirators, as well as those that required hospital treatment.

According to him, mostly elderly people required respirators.

“But we have younger patients in Vranje and its surroundings, or in the municipalities located in the farthest parts of South of Serbia. We have to think about it, considering that we have pneumonia in middle-aged people there, who are well treated in Vranje. The most serious cases are referred to the Clinical Center in Nis ", Dr. Tiodorovic said.

He also referred to the situation in Northern Macedonia, where curfew had been introduced again.

As he said, in view of the connections of the population of South Serbia with the one of Northern Macedonia, we had to take special care that at some point, if the number of patients increased again, certain more rigorous measures might be applied in that part of the country.

Dr. Tiodorovic stated that the number of patients would always depend on the testing and the reasons for the testing.

 He also said that he did not expect grave clinical pictures to appear often.

“There will be individual cases and sporadic forms even throughout the summer. As during the flu, when we have some sporadic cases of flu during the summer, "epidemiologist Tiodorovic said.
