TWENTY PEOPLE HIRED FOR PUBLIC WORKS IN MEDVEDJA

Medvedja – Twenty people registered with the National Employment Office received contracts of engagement in public works in Medvedja.

Medvedja – Twenty people registered with the National Employment Office received contracts of engagement in public works in Medvedja.

The contract was concluded between the National Employment Office, and the municipality of Medvedja, the Health Center in Medvedja, the Special Rehabilitation Hospital "Geyser" from Sijarinska Spa and the Public Utility Company "Obnova" from Medvedja.

Based on participation in public works for a period of three months, six workers will be engaged at the “Obnova” company for maintenance and environmental protection jobs,  seven workers at the health center in Medvedja for providing assistance to and taking care of the elderly and vulnerable persons, and seven workers at the special hospital for rehabilitation at Sijarinska Spa for the jobs of fixing the protective zone of thermal springs and the quay in Sijarinska Spa.

Public works are partly financed from the budget of the municipality of Medvedja in the amount of one million dinars, which are provided on the basis of the 2016 Employment Action Plan, and by the financial means of the National Employment Office, which are also in the amount of one million dinars.

Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, said that a lot of effort was put into employing everyone,  , regardless of their age, nationality or qualifications.

He also said that he knew that those jobs were temporary in character, but that they would cover the basic costs of living of those who are engaged at least until the end of the year.

He also announced that the municipality of Medvedja would "very quickly hire a graduate lawyer who will begin to work on providing free legal aid and who will be engaged by the Balkan Center for Migration and Humanitarian Activities".

He also says that the UNDP project "should be launched by the end of the year, for which 20 young, highly educated people will be employed for a period of one year, with the participation of Medvedja of five million dinars and the same sum by them."

“In January 2018, jobs for another ten young people of various national backgrounds and levels of education will be provided through the Office for Human and Minority Rights.  A few days ago, we distributed the second tranche of funds for the empowerment and strengthening of agricultural households, which is also one of the measures in terms of employment, so that young farmers could invest in the equipment and expand their production. In addition to these employees, 20 assisted living caregivers started working recently, for which the municipality of Medvedja earmarked 2,500,000 dinars in its budget," Mr. Arsic said.

Goran Jankovic, a representative of the National Employment Office, said that the office was trying to expand cooperation with the municipality of Medvedja in the field of self-employment and doing professional practice. He said that "there are good grounds for mitigating the real situation."
