Presevo – The "Ana and Vlade Divac” Foundation and the USAID, the US Development Agency, organized training in responding to crisis situations in the municipality of Presevo. The training is designed for members of the municipal staff for emergency situations and civil protection commissioners.

One of the situations considered as an emergency is the refugee crisis. Presevo is one of the municipalities on the migration route, while it has had a temporary reception center for migrants for almost two years.   During the refugee crisis, the citizens of Presevo showed solidarity, humanity and understanding.

“Members of the staff have convened several times and were the promoters of all the activities that were organized in the municipality of Presevo. In cooperation with other governmental bodies and the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, it always provided help and was up to the task, "says Nedzmedin Ahmedi, the Head of the Office for Emergency Situations in Presevo.

The training is aimed at raising the capacity of local self-governments to a higher level, enabling them to respond to any emergency situation and natural disaster in a timely and adequate manner. Licensed trainers guide members of the staff and civil protection commissioners to act in accordance with the Law on Emergency Situations.

"We convey both the experience of good and bad practice, so that the good one could be used and the bad one bypassed. We are leaving the printed manual and digital CD to beneficiaries of the training, so that they could use them in the future,” said Prof. Proda Secerov, PhD, a lecturer.

The trainings organized by the "Ana and Vlade Divac" Foundation and the USAID are to be held in seven municipalities.

Upon completion of the training, Presevo will receive a grant in the amount of 10 thousand US dollars for purchasing the equipment necessary for better responding to emergency situations.
