The Office of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, with the financial support of the British Embassy, implements the School of the Serbian language for young people from the Albanian community from Presevo and Bujanovac this year, too.
This is the second year that the Coordination Body’s Office organizes the School of the Serbian language, which is aimed at acquiring and improving the knowledge of the Serbian language by members of the Albanian community.
The number of candidates that expressed interest in attending the Serbian language classes is higher than expected, so that the School of the Serbian language is attended by over 300 young people of different educational backgrounds. In addition to a large number of secondary school students, the Serbian language classes are attended by students of the Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac, those of other higher educational institutions, interns and the staff of the local self-governments, as well as by graduate students who believe that the knowledge of the Serbian language will help them get a job.
Serbian language classes are organized on weekends, twice per week. Three teachers of the Serbian language from Nis are responsible for teaching the classes, while teaching assistants from the Albanian community help them out.
The School of the Serbian language began in October 2013 and it will last until April 2014.
