Bujanovac – While the citizens, and especially the caterers, are indignant because of the almost daily power outages in Bujanovac, which last for several hours, the Vranje Power Distribution Company says that the outages are mainly caused by the necessary regular repairs of transformer stations and meter replacements.

However, the last multi-hour interruption in the supply of electricity on Sunday evening, October 11, occurred due to the power grid failure. 

“No works are done on weekends, so if the electricity goes out then, there are grid failures and the on-duty teams react immediately, while the severity of the failure dictates how long the citizens will be without electricity", the Power Distribution Company said.

The Power Distribution Company could not say why there were frequent failures while the grid was being repaired. It was not specified how far the Company had come with regular overhauls, or why there were no prior announcements of power outages.

"What I can say is that if there were frequent power outages due to the works last week, there will be none this week, because we are trying to be fair to the consumers," the duty officer said on Monday.

The consumers do not think that the way the Electric Power Industry of Serbia treats them is fair, on the contrary.

“We are without electricity for a couple of hours every day, this is just too much. We cannot work properly, we are at a loss every day, while our electrical devices break down due to their overhauls and failures. They should their job properly and not only do the billing", said a caterer from the city center.
