REDUCED SUBSIDIES TO FARMERS DUE TO THE SITUATION WITH THE CORONAVIRUS

Меdvedja – In accordance with the Law on Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development,  the local self-government of the municipality of Medvedja allocated the funds for the implementation of measures for supporting agricultural policy and rural development policy this year too.

Меdvedja In accordance with the Law on Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development,  the local self-government of the municipality of Medvedja allocated the funds for the implementation of measures for supporting agricultural policy and rural development policy this year too. However, due to the circumstances regarding the epidemic and the introduction of the state of emergency, the amount for the incentives in 2020, which was planned, was reduced.

By the program of measures for 2020, a total of 8,000,000.00 dinars were allocated, of which 7,150,000.00 dinars were for the investments in physical assets or the procurement of machinery and equipment, planting material and for the procurement of quality livestock, as well as 850,000.00 dinars as the funds for artificial insemination.

“Apart from to the fact that less funds were allocated this year for the development of agriculture,  the allocated funds managed to cover most of the total investments, so that the municipality will pay 176 out of a total of 240 investment requests. This was achieved by using more restrictive measures or by reducing the maximum amount from 80,000 to 70,000 dinars, as well as by financing one, instead of two heads per farm. Also, two incentive measures were abolished, which include land fertility control and loan support. By carefully choosing the measures and the amount of incentives, we tried to distribute the allocated funds as rationally as possible, so that as many agricultural farms as possible could gain support, which is reflected in the stated number of requests that will be paid ", said Medvedja Mayor Nebojsa Arsic during his addresses to the farmers in the Assembly Hall of the Municipality of Medvedja.

The funds will be paid in the order of submitting the requests, so that the first payment of up to 4,000,000.00 dinars will be effected for 97 households out of a total of 176, which received the funds for investments in agriculture in 2020. The remaining 79 requests for investments will be paid very soon. In the coming period, an attempt to return investments in agriculture to last year's level or even to increase them will be made, it was said at the meeting.
