The Swiss PRO program published a public call under the slogan "To Make Equality Become a Reality", which aims to institutionally strengthen local mechanisms for gender equality. Through this call, the Government of Switzerland will support up to 30 local self-governments with 100,000 euros in strengthening the mechanisms that contribute to the promotion and advocacy of gender equality in local communities.
The public call is open until October 12, 2020, while 96 cities and municipalities from the region of Sumadija, western, southern and eastern Serbia have the right to participate in it.
Local self-governments will be supported with up to 3,300 euros per project that aims to increase women's participation in the decision-making process, improve the position of women in the local community in the fight against gender-based violence, women's health, economic empowerment, the position of women in rural areas and members of vulnerable groups. The activities can also be aimed at improving the competencies of local mechanisms, as well as at the promotion of the European Charter on Gender Equality at the local level.
The program especially encourages the establishment of inter-municipal and inter-institutional cooperation, while projects identified in local action plans for gender equality will be additionally evaluated.

The public call is conducted as part of the program "Swiss Government’s Support to Municipal Development through the Promotion of Good Governance and Social Inclusion – Swiss PRO", which is supported by the Government of Switzerland in cooperation with the Government of Serbia, and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in partnership with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM).
