Vranje-Bujanovac – As part of a public campaign "We – Here", which is dedicated to promoting public awareness of the importance of respecting the rights of minorities, discussions on the issues of persons with disabilities were held in Vranje and Bujanovac. The discussions were organized for students of the economic and trade school in Vranje and secondary school "Sezai Surroi" in Bujanovac, while the executive director of the Association of Students with Disabilities from Belgrade, Milan Jankovic, and the coordinator of the Association "Generator" from Vranje, Dalibor Plecic, took part in them.

Over 60 students with the Serbian and Albanian ethnic background had a chance to gain more information about the problems of people with disabilities through the presentation of the historical development of the models of approaching disability, which are compassionate, medical and social models, as well as about the problems of youth with disabilities in education and the importance of inclusive education. Also, the organizers of the discussions pointed to the  terminology that affects the breaking down of  prejudices and the importance of diversity in society in general.

In the coming months, eight more debates will be held, during which national experts will present to the students  six secondary schools in Vladicin Han, Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo the good practice and effective mechanisms for  improving the position of minorities.

The "We– Here" campaign began with celebrating the World Day of Peace in Bujanpvac, on  September 21, by an exhibition of street photography "War Stories" , and continued with a series of panel discussions on inter-ethnic relations in South Serbia. As part of the campaign, a street activity marking November 9- the International Day of the Struggle against Fascism, November 16 – the International Day of Tolerance, November 25 – the International Day of the Struggle against Violence against Women will be held in November, while youth newspaper supplements on the problems of minorities will be shown, too.

The campaign is part of the project "Equalize Me", which is implemented by "Generator" from Vranje and funded by the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia.
