Subotica, Presevo – During the action that was carried out yesterday morning by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the local self-government of Subotica and the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, 200 migrants were removed from the streets and nearby forests, and were transported to the Reception Center in Presevo in four buses, the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration said. .
As stated by the Commissariat, this is another in a series of joint actions of state institutions with the goal of accommodating migrants, while they are in Serbia, in the reception centers where there is room and everything that is needed for the coming winter.
The police officers who carried out the action were visited by Aleksandar Vulin, the Minister of the Interior, together with Vladimir Rebic, the Director of the Police, and Vladimir Cucic, the Commissioner for Refugees and Migrants.
On that occasion, Minister Vulin pointed out that no migrant could be out of the camps without a proper permit.
“All migrants in our country have the opportunity and the right to be in our reception centers, where medical and any other protection is provided to them, but anyone who leaves the reception center without a permit, anyone who moves around without proper consent, anyone who thinks they cannot comply with the laws of the state of Serbia, will come across a response from the Ministry of the Interior", said Minister Vulin, adding that members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs would continue to take care that everyday life was not endangered in any way.
The last such action in Subotica was organized on October 28, when slightly more than 300 migrants were transported to the Reception Center in Presevo, and according to the Commissariat, more actions would be carried out if necessary.
“Serbia addresses the issue of migration responsibly and humanely, and will continue to do so. On this day, 122 migrants are accommodated in the Reception Center in Subotica, and most of them are from Syria, Palestine and Iraq, "the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration said.
