Belgrade – Speaking at the gathering on the occasion of marking June 17, the World Day against Desertification and Drought, Minister of Environmental Protection Goran Trivan said that the disappearance of fertile land, the most important natural resource, was an issue that society had to address without delay.
Belgrade – Speaking at the gathering on the occasion of marking June 17, the World Day against Desertification and Drought, Minister of Environmental Protection Goran Trivan said that the disappearance of fertile land, the most important natural resource, was an issue that society had to address without delay.
He said that we had to use the land in a reasonable fashion, because the quality of food, air, drinking water and groundwater, as well as our lives, depended on it.
He pointed out that afforestation was the best way to preserve the land, prevent its devastation and turn it into barren areas, and thus at the same time preserve the air, biodiversity and the man, saying that the Ministry would continue undertaking the afforestation-related activities.
At the event organized by the Ministry with the aim of raising public awareness of the causes and consequences of negligent and irresponsible attitude towards land, which, along with water and air, is an inseparable condition of a healthy environment, the undertaken desertification and drought activities were presented.
