There are currently 220 people staying at a special rehabilitation hospital „Geyser“at Sijarinska Spa, which is situated near Medvedja, while the spa’s capacities may satisfy the wishes of another thirty or so people. Apart from health workers in Sijarinska Spa, tourist workers in the spa may also be pleased with the number of visitors this year.

In regards with the opening of extended departments of the Nis Faculties of Law and Economics in Medvedja, the mayor of Medvedja Slobodan Draskovic said that the enrollment in the Medvedja Faculty would begin at the beginning of August, while the entrance exam would be organized at the beginning of September.

After allocating one –off assistance of six million dinars to persons with special needs, single mothers and parentless children, an open competition was announced for granting scholarships to parentless secondary school students from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, as well as to pupils coming from families with inadequate means of support.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE NEEDIEST 0

The Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja shall pay six million dinars in the accounts of the three municipalities by the end of the year. The said amount is to be utilized as one-off financial assistance provided to persons with special needs, single mothers and parentless children. The first portion of the funds, one million dinars for each of the three municipalities, is to be trasferred by mid-September, while each of the municipalities is to receive their second million in the last quarter of the year.

Today, the Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic opened a 20 km – long section of Corridor 10 highway that stretches from Levosoj to Presevo. The construction of this highway section began on July 21, 2008, while it was opened for traffic on the occasion of marking one year’s long of work of the Serbian government.

„Doubtlessly, the results that the Serbian government achieved in the field of infrastructure, particularly those referring to construction of Corridor 10, are visible. The construction of the modern highway, as well as a series of similar activities, indicate that we are a step closer to joining the European Union, as well as to having the visa regime for our citizens abolished.“ That is what, among other things, said Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic yesterday at the appropriate festive event, after he had visited the Levosoj – Presevo section of the modern highway Corridor 10. The said section of the highway is 22 kilometers long, whereas around 13 million euros were invested in it.
