    The Republican Ombudsman’s offices are going to be opened in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja by the end of this year. Each of them is going to work on specific workdays; while in the meantime, the premises of the offices will be used for other purposes. The offices’ employees are going to be part of the Ombudsman’s expert team that will be in charge of contacting the citizens and receiving their complaints. Members of ethnic minority communities will be particularly encouraged to apply for the job in the offices.

    Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

    As part of the activity “One Thousand PCs for Schools in Serbia”, Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, and Goran Ciric, Director General of the Public Enterprise of PTT Traffic “Srbija”, are going to donate seven PCs and two printers to the IT Room of the elementary school “Bora Stankovic” in the village of Klenike, situated in the municipality of Bujanovac. Minister Markovic and Director General Ciric are going to deliver the IT equipment to students of the school at 1 pm tomorrow, September 18, 2009.

    Free access to the website of the PE of PTT Traffic “Srbija” has been provided, via the Internet, to students of the elementary school “Bora Stankovic.”

    The implementation of two projects in South Serbia is to begin soon. The aim of both projects is to reduce tensions and risks of conflicts arising among interethnic communities living in this part of Serbia. The agreements on implementation of the projects „ Capacity Building for Inclusive Local Development in South Serbia“and „Promoting the Preservation of Peace in South Serbia“were yesterday signed on the premises of the Serbian government by Milan Markovic, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, and William Infante, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia.

    The third session of the Presidency of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja was held since representatives of the Albanian community had rejoined the Coordination Body. The session was attended by all members of the Presidency, representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.

    On the very first day of the school year, Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, distributed to all Presevo and Bujanovac first – graders school – bags containing school equipment. 600 first – graders from Presevo received school equipment, as well as 603 first-graders from Bujanovac. The value of the donation given to these two municipalities is 2,500,000 dinars.

    ECONOMIC CRISIS WON’T HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS IN 40 LEAST DEVELOPED MUNICIPALITIES

    BOJNIK – Ms. Verica   Kalanovic, Minister of the National Investment Plan (NIP), stated in Bojnik yesterday that the economic crisis wouldn’t have an impact on the project implementation in 40 least developed municipalities in Serbia. She also said that the aforementioned municipalities should be more careful about the way in which they prepare their projects. According to her, a great problem is caused by the fact that not only undeveloped municipalities, but also some cities, submit their projects without complete documentation and without resolved proprietary-legal issues.

    BELGRADE – On Tuesday, September 1, 2009, 1,300 first grade students of elementary schools in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja are going to get free school equipment, the value of which is 2 million and 800 thousand dinars. The donation was provided by the Coordination Body for the three municipalities. Each set of the school equipment contains a school bag, a pencil-box, six note-books, a drawing – pad, a ruler, a set of crayons, an abacus, a pencil-sharpener, an eraser and lead and ball – pens. The value of each set is 2,100 dinars.

    Ivica Dacic, the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs,  said yesterday that he had talked with Albanian leaders from South Serbia the week before, with the aim of maintaining political stability and security in the region. „The talks went off well and they should go on. I want our security units in South Serbia to have the understanding and support of South Serbia’s citizens. I also want us to jointly fight against crime and corruption, since it is in everybody’s interest,” said Mr. Dacic.
