    Bujanovac – The renovation of the “Muharem Kadriu” elementary school in Bujanovac’s village of Veliki Trnovac, whose classes are attended by 970 students, is underway.   The roof and wood joinery were replaced, the façade tidied up and the new lighting was installed. Persons responsible for this issue say that renovation of the school kitchen was planned, as well as construction of a gym.

  • 600 THOUSAND EUROS FROM THE EU FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTH SERBIA0

    Vranje  – As part of the European Partnership with Municipalities Program „Progress” , a non-refundable aid of 600 thousand euros was approved for the implementation of several new projects in South and Southwestern Serbia. The EU and the Swiss Government are going to finance five major infrastructural projects with the sum of around half a million euros.   The Medvedja-based “Termovent” plant is going to be reconstructed, so that it could be enabled to manufacture briquette. The city of Vranje, as well as the municipalities of Presevo, Crna Trava and Ivanjica, are also going to receive the funds, which will be used for improving the rural infrastructure, as well as for the renovation of schools and day – nurseries.

    A department of the Subotica-based Faculty of Economics was opened in Bujanovac on Friday, October 28, 2011. The first generation of 69 students, who will attend the classes in both Serbian in Albanian, enrolled in the 2011/2012 academic year. The classes for students from the Serbian and Roma communities will be held in Serbian, while students from the Albanian community, during their four years’ long studying, will attend the classes in 14 subjects in Albanian.

    According to the results of the Republican Statistics Office of October 15, 2011, 7.4 million people in Serbia were registered in the census. Out of that figure, 1.7 million people in Belgrade and over 1.9 million people in Vojvodina were registered in the census.
