ELECTRONIC APPLICATIONS FOR DETERMINING UTILITY TAX ON COMPANIES’ SIGNS

The Office for IT and e-Government of the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that, as of September 2, electronic applications for determining utility tax on putting up the company’s sign on the company’s premises (sign fee) was made possible through the portal of local tax administrations.

The Office for IT and e-Government of the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that, as of September 2, electronic applications for determining utility tax on putting up the company’s sign on the company’s premises (sign fee) was made possible through the portal of local tax administrations.

Office Director Mihailo Jovanovic pointed out that this year a step forward was made when it comes to the operation of the portal of local tax administrations, or that it was made possible for all legal entities to submit applications electronically to determine the utility tax for putting up the company’s sign on the company’s premises.

This electronic service requires the use of a qualified electronic certificate, he said, noting that legal entities could now complete their electronic filing for one or more objects online without going to the local tax office.

"By constantly improving the existing services and providing new ones to the citizens and businesses, we want to facilitate administrative procedures, send queues to the past, and turn the work of public administration into the service of citizens, which is one of the main priorities of the Government," Mr. Jovanovic said.

Jelena Bojovic, NALED's Director of Regulatory Reform, said that as of that day, the economy was filing applications for determining company sign fees electronically, that it did not have to go to the counter of every local self-government in which it operated and did not have to wait for the decision on the issue to arrive in the mailbox.

She specified that only necessary to log on to the lpa.gov.rs system and submit one’s information,  while an electronic payment could be made immediately after reviewing one’s financial obligations.

Instead of two hours, everything ends in five minutes, thus saving time for local self-governments, which have been wasting hours on typing data from paper, Ms. Bojovic said.

The frequency and obligation to apply remain the same as it was in the past, in accordance with the decisions of local self-governments. The application is submitted for all facilities in the territory of one local self-governmental unit.

At the beginning of 2019, the Office for IT and e-Government established a Unique LPA Information System, which, thanks to centralization of data, enables citizens and businesses to have complete insight into their tax obligations in the territory of Serbia, as well as to electronically

file an application for determining property taxes and settle their obligations electronically.
