DR KON: WEARING MASKS OUTDOORS CAN BECOME OBLIGATORY

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja – At the moment, it is important to control the observance of all adopted regulations, while in the future, some recommendations could become mandatory measures, said Dr. Kon, a member of the Crisis Staff for the fight against COVID-19.

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja – At the moment, it is important to control the observance of all adopted regulations, while in the future, some recommendations could become mandatory measures, said Dr. Kon, a member of the Crisis Staff for the fight against COVID-19.

“I emphasize again and recommend wearing a mask, not only indoors, but also outdoors. That recommendation is being forgotten. I am aware that a small number of people wear masks outdoors, but at one time a small number of people wore them in means of transportation and shopping malls until they became mandatory. The recommendation can sometimes become a measure, and no one should be surprised if that is the case, if things start going in the wrong direction ", Dr. Kon said.

Dr. Kon points out that we have a relatively calm situation at the moment, but that everything could change very quickly.

“The speed of the virus's return is shocking and everything could change in two weeks, since the situation in the countries around us is serious. It is autumn now, winter is coming, so that we must maintain this state for as long as possible. When very favorable conditions for virus transmission come, it accelerates and these measures are no longer valid after two weeks. It is important to find out where something is happening, so that we could reduce the number of initial cases. People are more disciplined now, but there are a large number of incidents," says the epidemiologist.

An increased number of patients is expected with the arrival of colder weather, when people move to closed spaces," he noted.

“The highest intensity of all viruses is during the winter, so that we expect the same from COVID.  We are facing the period that best suits the virus. On top of everything, there are weddings, patron saint’s days and a lot of various dangers ", Dr. Kon said.

One of the potential dangers is the "collision" of COVID and influenza.

“It is realistic to expect that we will have COVID first, and then the flu. It doesn't have to happen in that way, as they can both happen at the same time. COVID can be assumed, while the flu is usually detected in December, around St. Nicholas Day, rarely before. It depends a lot on the schools and when students are on vacation. After the holidays, the students go back to their schools and the engine starts working, so that the biggest increase is in February and March ", Dr. Predrag Kon said.
