Bujanovac – According to the announcements of the authorities, the special hospital for rehabilitation in Bujanovac Spa should become a COVID hospital due to the growing number of new corona virus patients in that area, but the Director of the rehabilitation facility, Goran Nedeljkovic, said that it would be difficult to do.
“It is not impossible, but it will be difficult to repurpose our facility for hospital treatment. It is certain that we will need additional equipment and, above all, the manpower, which I believe can be provided, but the problem is space. We cannot become a hospital, because we have the concept of hotel accommodation. There are no adequate passages to the beds, there is no large room that would enable patient control, but there are classic hotel rooms, "Mr. Nedeljkovic said.
On Sunday, epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic, a member of the Republican Crisis Staff, made the announcement that Bujanovac and Vranje Spas would probably become COVID hospitals because the "situation in Vranje is extremely difficult”.
"So far, we have not received any official information that we are becoming a COVID hospital. I believe that this will happen only if a large number of people fall ill due to the corona virus,"Mr. Nedeljkovic said.
Last week, two members of the medical staff of this health resort were confirmed to have a corona infection, and the Director said that two more medical staff members were suspicious.
“We are, for the time being, in a regular mode of operation. However, we have reduced the admissions for outpatient treatment, while the number of visitors in the medical unit is also decreasing. Fewer visitors are coming to our facility,” the Director said.
Bujanovac Spa served as a quarantine facility for returnees from abroad during April. However, Mr. Nedeljkovic emphasized that organizing and functioning as a COVID hospital, if that happened, would be a completely different challenge.
