Cameron Munter, the US Ambassador to Serbia, said for the “FoNet” press agency that the US government fully supported the signing of the Agreement on Reconstruction of the Coordination Body for South Serbia.
– We think the agreement is an expression of goodwill of the Albanian population and the Serbian government – pointed out Mr. Munter – The agreement is an important step forward, which will make it possible for residents of the region to work in the integrated body, as well as to cooperate.
The first meeting of the reconstructed Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja should be held as early as sometime this week, following the last Friday’s signing of an agreement on the reconstruction of the body, which representatives of the Albanian political parties from South Serbia rejoined after two years.

READ MOREThe new Head of the OSCE Office in Bujanovac is Jeroen de Vries, a Dutchman. He has replaced Martin Brooks, who was transferred to the EULEX Office in Pristina. So far, Mr. de Vries has been with the UN Mission to Cambodia, the UNHCR Mission to Rwanda, the OSCE Missions to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, as well as with other international missions. The OSCE Office in Bujanovac was opened in 2001, after the armed conflicts in South Serbia had been brought to an end.
