Presevo – Local campaigns for supporting the integration of migrant population in seven cities with the largest number of migrants, which include Presevo, Vranje, Nis, Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica, Sid and Belgrade, will be launched in the following weeks.

Civil society organizations from those cities, along with the local area networks for supporting the integration of refugees, organized a series of activities to reduce the social distance between local and migrant population and address the needs and problems of migrants who live in those cities

Local campaigns, which will be run in the coming months, are part of the international project "Building Together – Monitoring and Advocacy in Local Communities," which is, with the support of the European Union, implemented by the "Konrad Adenauer" Foundation, the “Athens” Association and the Macedonian Bar Association.

The project has been conducted in the Serbian and Macedonian municipalities with the highest number of refugees (a total of 11 of them) for a year.

“We want our two countries to provide the conditions for the refugees who want to stay in them and be integrated into society. We are working on making our citizens understand the needs of  refugees, and not resist the idea of integration, as well as tell them that we can and should jointly ensure that these people live better, "said Aleksandra Galonja, who is in charge of running the" Building Together" project.

Local campaigns are focused on the inclusion of children of migrants in the community, as well as on the joint activities of the local population and migrants, in order to reduce social distance and get to know them.
