As part of the project "Support to STEAM Education in Secondary Schools", the “Ana and Vlade Divac” Foundation and the NCR Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Center for the Promotion of Science, issued a call for secondary schools in the territory of  the Republic of Serbia.

The aim of the call for applications is to provide the conditions for better STEAM education in Serbia or for the promotion of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics among secondary school students and young people in Serbia.

Secondary schools founded by the Republic of Serbia, the autonomous province or a local self-governmental unit can apply for the call for the equipment (computers, tablets, smart boards, mBot robots, micro: bit devices, LEGO Mindstorms sets, other robot sets, 3D printers, 3D scanners CNC machines, Internet of Things equipment, equipment for science labs, equipment for science clubs, equipment for maker space, exhibits in science parks, software and more).

The maximum value of the equipment per school is 525,000 dinars. The call will support the procurement of the necessary means for the implementation of modern teaching and extracurricular activities, which will help teachers to improve teaching in the STEAM field and bring students closer to different scientific disciplines.

Five secondary schools from the territory of the Republic of Serbia will be supported at the competition. The decision on the selected schools will be made by the Commission composed of representatives of the “Ana and Vlade Divac” Foundation, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Center for the Promotion of Science.

The competition is open from October 6 to November 6, 2020 at 4 p.m.

The term STEAM appears as an acronym, referring to several academic disciplines: science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. According to many experts, STEAM skills should not be studied in isolation as separate subjects, but should be introduced in all schools, regardless of the field of work and educational profile or secondary school direction that the student has chosen. The possession of modern equipment is not crucial for STEAM education, but the equipment certainly helps teachers in creating and conducting quality teaching in these disciplines.
