Bujanovac –"Fascism was defeated in the Second World War, but it still exists and we should fight against it and constantly remember our victims," it was said at the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Bujanovac.

September 7, the Day of Liberation of Bujanovac in the Second World War, was marked by the Municipal Board of the SUBNOR (Alliance of Associations of People's Liberation War Fighters) by paying tribute to the fallen freedom fighters and victims of the fascist occupier and by laying wreaths in front of memorial busts to members of the SKOJ

(League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia) Aleksandar Stankovic,Josif Janjic and Stojan Vasiljevic in the city park.  

Bozidar Nedeljkovic, the President of Bujanovac's SUBNOR, reminded that over 600 Bujanovac residents had died during the occupation, more than a thousand were interned in labor camps, while looting took place on a daily basis, with hundreds of houses set on fire in the Bujanovac area and surrounding villages.

“Our victims must be constantly on our minds, to warn us that we must always strive for freedom and equality. We must not forget that, "said Miroljub Stojcic, the President of the Assembly of the SUBNOR of Serbia.

Apart from representatives of the veterans' organization, the celebration of the Liberation Day of Bujanovac was attended by the descendants of the veterans of People’s Liberation War, representatives of the local self-government, the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, security bodies and public institutions.
