Medvedja – Agreements with internally displaced persons were signed yesterday in the Assembly Hall of the Municipality of Medvedja.

In the previous period, the Commission for the Allocation of Funds for Improving the Housing Conditions of Internally Displaced Persons issued a public call for refugees and displaced persons. The financial assistance is intended for the purchase of construction materials for the completion or adaptation of residential buildings, as well as for income-generating activities.

The signing of the agreements is divided into two groups, due to the current measures related to the gathering of a limited number of people. The agreements were, on behalf of the municipality of Medvedja, signed by the municipal president.  

“We have gathered together to sign the agreements on the funds allocated through the Commissariat for Refugees and Displaced Persons, so that your standard of living could be improved. The state, through local self-governmental units, helps as much as it can, while we have to engage in other activities as well in order to maintain what we have. We have completed everything planned for this year and are ready to work on new projects in the coming year", the municipal president said.

Following the end of the competition, the selection commission determined the final list of financial assistance beneficiaries. All 14 families that had applied were eligible for receiving financial assistance.

Seven families that are displaced in the territory of the municipality of Medvedja received funds for the economic empowerment of internally displaced persons through income-generating activities or the funds for obtaining smaller agricultural machines, equipment or the necessary herd for starting agricultural activity, tools and equipment for performing craft services and the like. The amount of 1,262,796.00 dinars has been earmarked for that purpose. 

The remaining seven families exercised the right to receiving financial assistance for procuring construction materials for the completion or adaptation of housing facilities.  The total value of those agreements is 3,479,060.00 dinars.
