Меdvedja – At the administrative checkpoint in Mutivoda in the municipality of Medvedja, the customs officers prevented an attempt to smuggle gold jewelry and branded wrist-watches whose originality is suspected.

The violation was detected in an "Audi Q8" with German license plates, which was moving from Germany towards the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, the Customs Administration said.

The car was driven by a 47-year-old German citizen of the Albanian nationality, who, along with his wife and child, was going to spend his vacation in our southern province, since he was born in Prizren.

When asked by the officials, the married couple stated that they had nothing to declare except their personal belongings, which was followed by a detailed control of the vehicle.

During the search of the luggage of the passengers, but also in various places in the car, several pieces of gold jewelry and six men's wrist-watches of world-famous brands were found, whose originality could not be confirmed on the spot.

This was followed by an inspection of the car's interior, when a lot of various gold jewelry bits were found in several different places, characteristic of the planned hiding. The estimated value of undeclared gold jewelry and wrist-watches of questionable originality is over 1,600,000 dinars.

As the person in question is a passenger with a residence in Germany, an urgent procedure was conducted at the competent Misdemeanor Court in Leskovac, the result of which was a fine in the amount of 235,000 dinars, as well as a protective measure of the confiscation of undeclared goods.
