Medvedja – A public lecture to mark the 140th. anniversary of the liberation of Medvedja from the Ottoman rule was held at the Medvedja municipal building.
Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, opened the public lecture by saying that everyone was given the time to do as much as they could once, and that there would always be those who could do more and better than the others.
“In that way, our liberators became deserving citizens and fell into the ranks of those who should be publicly applauded, because they gave their lives to liberate this land from five centuries’ long Ottoman slavery, "Mayor Arsic said.
The public lecture was given by Nemanja Jovic, a history teacher, who talked about the past centuries, bringing the audience in the municipal hall closer to the events relating to the liberation battles that were fought to make that region free.
