1.5 MILLION DINARS FOR RADIO BROADCASTING OF ASSEMBLY SESSIONS IN MEDVEDJA

Medvedja – Although there is no local televsion in the area of the the municipality of Medvedja, the residents of the municipality will be able to follow the municipal Assembly sessions on airwaves, for which 1.5 million dinars of taxpayers’ money have been allocated.

The Assembly sessions will be broadcast by Radio Medvedja, which was awarded the contract because the other bidder did not have complete documentation. In addition to direct broadcasts of the sessions, the medium is obliged to broadcast the announcements of the Municipal Administration, too.

The price of a direct broadcast of a session is 80,000 dinars, taking into account that the average duration of a session is 8 hours, while the price of rebroadcast is 20,000 dinars – it was said in the contract. 

The broadcasting of one second of an announcement costs the locals 6 dinars, bearing in mind that, according to the contractual obligation, a media announcement must be broadcast 6 times per day for a period of 3 minutes. 

The Assembly sessions are held at least once in three months, while eight Assembly sessions at the most are held during the year. 

This year's municipal budget is 592 million dinars, and apart from allocating the money for salaries, which is the largest item in the budget, 65 million dinars was allocated for the reconstruction and maintenance of roads, while the least money, 6.3 million dinars, was earmarked for environmental protection .

Radio Medvedja, as stated on its website, was established by the privatization of a public enterprise. The consortium, which comprises Marija Bozovic, Goran Stojanovic and Miljan Stankovic, as it is said on the website, bought the radio in November 2015, in order to keep the only source of information in the municipality.
