Medevedja – The OSCE Office of the High Commissioner on National Minorities in The Hague and the Coordination Body’s Office for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in cooperation with a team of experts who worked on the dictionary, distributed copies of the Serbian-Albanian and Albanian-Serbian "Little Dictionary”  in the municipality of Medvedja.

A meeting was held with representatives of the OSCE at the office of the Mayor Nebojsa Arsic, which was aimed at familiarizing the municipal adiministration employees with the publication of the little dictionary. Natasa Boskovic, the Coordinator of the preparation of the dictionary, said that that was the first illustrated Serbian-Albanian/Albanian-Serbian Dictionary tailored to the children of primary school age and handed a copy of it to the municipal administration employees.

Tihana Leko, on behalf of the OSCE Office of the High Commissioner on National Minorities, said:

“In accordance with the recommendations of the Working Group established at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, which also includes the municipality of Medvedja, and the Study on Improving the Teaching and Learning of Serbian as a Second Language in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, it is important to know the official language of the country where you live, for the purpose of getting integrated into society and finding work more easily. On the other hand, thanks to the use of the mother tongue, members of ethnic minorities preserve their culture and traditions. "

After the meeting, the visitors paid a visit to the elementary schools where classes in the Albanian language are held, which include the "Gornja Jablanica", "Sijarinska Spa" and "Zenelj Hajdini" elementary schools, and presented printed copies of the dictionary to them.
