Bujanovac – The villagers of Bogdanovac got what they had been waiting for, as they say, for a lifetime – the 3.5km road connecting them with the village of Ljiljanec and further with Bujanovac, owing to which they will remain in the village with the hope for better days.

The village, which is situated 9km from Bujanovac, about 550 meters above the sea level, with 25 households and only four children and the same number of secondary school students, was waiting for the road "since it has been here", as the locals say, and will get it in a few days.

All requests that the locals were referring to the local self-government over the past twenty years remained unanswered.

When asked about the Bogdanovac road, the leaders of the municipal authorities replied that the construction of the road towards that village in the hilly mountainous area of the municipality was not a priority because of the (inadequate) justification of the investment of large funds in a project intended for such a small number of households.

Without any intention to justify such a decision, it should be said that this sum is almost equal to the total amount that is allocated annually for subsidies in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

“The project costs 35 million dinars and works are paid by Public Enterprise "Roads of Serbia". We still have to do 1.5km of asphalt road, or 35% of all works. I expect that we will finish everything in about 3 to 4 days, "said Jovica Stevanovic from PE “Roads of Serbia”.

The inhabitants of Bogdanovac say they hope that now, when they have got the road, they will get the neighbors again, who were leaving this place for years, to get settled in the nearby villages of Ljiljance and Bozinjevac.
