(Tanjug News Agency) President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia  for  the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Zoran Stankovic, expects that the issue of a monument to the fighters of the so-called Liberation Army of PMB  will be resolved in a peaceful and dignified manner, including the enforcement of laws of the Republic of Serbia and  requests to be invited to a joint meeting of the parliaments of the three municipalities, which is scheduled for Saturday.

"I see that representatives of the local self-governments asked members of the international community to participate in the meeting, whereas they failed invite any members of the Serbian authorities. I expect and demand from them to attend the meeting ", Mr. Stankovic said today in a statement to reporters.

Mr. Stankovic said that intensive negotiations with representatives of the local authorities and ethnic Albanian political parties in South Serbia to remove the monument had been going on for a month and a half. He voiced hope that the talks would be concluded favorably, that a solution would be reached, which would be satisfactory to all who live and work in the area, as well as to the relevant state authorities.

"The Coordination Body, including representatives of the local self-governments and political parties operating in the region, expects that the problem will be solved by the application of the laws that are in force in the Republic of Serbia, in a calm and dignified manner, which will allow the people who live in the area to continue living peaceably“, Mr. Stankovic said.
