Belgrade – The payment of the first of three minimum wages the state gives to the employers, and they to the employees, will start on Thursday and be completed in two days, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced.
237,000 employers, with more than 1.1 million employees, applied for the minimum wages, said Minister Mali, who was a guest in the Morning News program on the Radio and Television of Serbia channel.
He estimated that not many people had lost their jobs due to the coronavirus crisis in Serbia – only 6,047 people contacted the National Employment Office over the past two months.
Minister Mali confirmed that the applying for 100 euro financial assistance by adult citizens would start on May 15 and would last until June 5, and stressed that that was a necessary measure, since it was taken by the most developed countries in the world. Minister Mali also said that by taking the said measure, the government wanted to bring optimism among Serbian citizens and show that the state was strong.
He added that the amount of taxes, the payment of which was deferred until next year, reached 29.5 billion dinars.
