Медвеђа – Игуман манастира Хиландар архимандрит Методије ће у понедељак, 2. новембра, први пут посетити Медвеђу, а повод посете је оснивање православног кампа у Сијаринској Бањи, казао је повереник тог светогорског манастира Милош Стојковић.
Medvedja – The Abbot of the Hilandar monastery, Archimandrite Methodije, will visit Medvedja for the first time on Monday, November 2, and the reason for the visit is the establishment of an Orthodox camp in Sijarinska Spa, said the Commissioner of that monastery on Mount Athos, Milos Stojkovic. The camp will be intended for children and youth, but also for mothers with several children, military invalids and people who have "indebted the state, regardless of their religion".
The Orthodox friendship camp has been held for 11 years, Mr. Stojkovic said. It gathers young people from various endangered environments, who socialize, have pilgrimages, cultural and artistic program and religious classes. Every year, a different location is chosen, but now they want to constantly relocate one group to Sijarinska Spa.
Two facilities have already been purchased and are awaiting renovation, says the Commissioner of Hilandar, and he hopes that 150 to 200 children will stay in them next summer.
“We know the potential of the municipality of Medvedja and Sijarinska Spa. We want children to visit the holy places in Kosovo, and Medvedja is close to them, and we also want to provide support to people in South Serbia. We bought the facilities from the citizens in order to renovate them and have children stay in them in the summer. It is intended for children and youth in the summer, while the idea is to have mothers with several children, war invalids and those who indebted our country, whatever religion and nation they are, to stay there during the year and to support them as much as we can, as well as the residents of Medvedja”, Mr. Stojkovic said.
Abbot Metodije is visiting the municipality of Medvedja at the invitation of the president of the municipality, Nebojsa Arsic, and his associates.
“As part of the visit, a prayer ceremony will be performed for the beginning of works on the renovation of the facility that the Hilandar monastery bought in Sijarinska Spa for the needs of organizing a camp for children and youth, "it was said in the statement of the municipality of Medvedja.
The event will be attended by the Bishop of Nis, Arsenije, as well as by representatives of the social life of Medvedja.
