Belgrade – As of next year, the employers who hire victims of domestic violence or trafficking in human beings shall receive specific subsidies from the government, said Aleksandar Vulin, the Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.
“The government has reached a decision on providing, as of next year, special subsidies for the employment of not only single mothers, but also of, first and foremost, victims of domestic violence and those of human trafficking, through active employment measures planned by the National Employment Office (NEO),” he said.
Minister Vulin pointed out that the women who had suffered violence were entitled to a second chance and that the existential issues of victims of violence would be solved by the government’s project of subsidizing their employment. According to him, the employer would have to take into account the privacy of the victim that he/she employed.
Under the 2017 National Employment Activity Plan, the measures of active employment policy were established, as well as the categories of less employable persons, including a significant activity related to encouraging the employment of women from particularly vulnerable groups, such as single mothers and victims of domestic violence.
