Bujanovac, Presevo, Medvedja – The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities held a fourth meeting of its Network for Roma Issues, within which the topic "Health Mediators – Support to Local Self-Governments" was discussed. The meeting was attended by Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja.
Bujanovac, Presevo, Medvedja – The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities held a fourth meeting of its Network for Roma Issues, within which the topic "Health Mediators – Support to Local Self-Governments" was discussed. The meeting was attended by Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja.
“The aim of the project is to increase the level of awareness of the Roma population about what is available to them within the healthcare system, as well as to raise awareness of the necessity of caring for their health, "said Vesna Knjeginjić, the Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Health’s Department for Public Healthcare and Healthcare Programs.
There are 75 healthcare mediators employed in 59 municipalities. Additional financial resources for employing mediators as healthcare staff at health care centers will be earmarked in the course of next three years.
It was said at the meeting that the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Social and Veterans' Affairs would particularly monitor the exercising of rights to registering residence at the Center for Social Welfare of the persons who cannot register their residence on any other grounds.
