Presevo – Customs officers at the Presevo railway station prevented two attempts of immigrants to illegally enter Serbia.
They firstly discovered four immigrants on the train that traveled from Greece to Germany, and in the night between January 12 and 13, they prevented the illegal border crossing of two other foreign nationals.
In the first case, customs officials, in cooperation with the police, inspected the train and with an apparatus for measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide determined a value greater than usual, which indicated the presence of living beings.
The findings of the device indicated that there were illegal immigrants in a wagon with a torn tarpaulin, which was full of various goods. The device findings proved to be correct when, after the opening of the wagon, four citizens of Afghanistan were discovered.
In the second case, the "stowaways" were discovered during the control of the train that was traveling from Thessaloniki to Belgrade. Upon removing the ceiling partition in the second wagon, customs officials and the police found two citizens of Syria.
In both cases, the men at issue were up to 30 years of age, who were handed over to the Border Police.
