Bujanovac – Last night's “downpour" and the inability of the Bujanovac sewer system to receive large amounts of water caused a flood on the ground floor of the Bujanovac secondary vocational school "Saint Sava". Although the water, due to moisture and residual sludge, had been pumped out before the beginning of classes, second grade students were sent back home. Biserka Jovic, the School Principal, said that the missed classes would be held the following Saturday.
Flooded premises include IT labs, hotel management classrooms and other classrooms and rooms on the ground floor, which have already been flooded several times, whenever there were a bit more extensive rainfalls.
“Fortunately, the gym, which was recently repaired because of the effects of past floods, has not been affected. The power has been turned off at the school. We, now, do not know how large the material damage is. We expect financial assistance from the local self-government. It is necessary to carry out the needed works at the school soon, so that such situations would not occur again, "School Principal Jovic said.
The necessary conditions for the smooth taking of final exams, which are in progress and are carried out in the classrooms on the upper floors, have been provided for the final year students. The classes in the afternoon shift will start at the same time as in the previous days.
