Bujanovac – Sara Stojanovic, a 10-year-old girl from Oslare near Bujanovac, has received enough money to buy a freezer, a refrigerator, a washing machine, an electric cooker, a wood stove and a TV, thanks to the Blic Foundation and people of goodwill.

This girl, who was abandoned by her mother when she was only five years old, and who lives in an old and dilapidated house with a sick father and a frail grandmother and practically takes care of the household herself, still needs help.

Still, though she is hugely grateful for everything she has received, she says that the hardest thing for her is having no water in the house.

“It's hardest for me to be without water. The house is old and the water is in the yard, so washing and preparing food is a big problem for me, harder than all other things, ” Sara says.

She would be happiest if she, like her friends, had water in the house and a bathroom, so she could use the washing machine, which is still unpacked by the front door.

“ There is God. He sees everything. Thanks to everyone who helped make this kid become an independent adult tomorrow," says Sarah's father, Srdjan.

He is sick and can't do much to help her, except for overseeing the little green-house next door and keeping a few chickens, while everything else is on this girl's shaky back.

“There were some people here and they promised that they would build a room and a bathroom for the child, so when it is done, we will put all these things there, and it will be easy then for the two of us,”says grandmother Naska.

Three members of the Stojanovic family live on 13,000 dinar pension and 3,500 dinars child allowance, which makes it a total of 16,500 dinars.

They also have a hectare of seventh-grade lean land on which they plant what they can and should: some potatoes, onions, beans, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers…

It is much easier for Sara now because of the help of the Blic Foundation, but unfortunately her problems have not yet been resolved.
