Bujanovac – The most famous athlete from Bujanovac, a long-distance runner Sanja Nakic, the popular Pipe, achieved another noteworthy result by having run a 25.4-kilometer course in the 27th Novi Sad Marathon.

Following her successes at the half marathons (21km) in Belgrade, Skopje and many other racing competitions in the country and abroad, Sanja once again upped the stakes and added to her treasure trove of medals the recognition from Novi Sad.

The first resident of Bujanovac to have run a half marathon is now the first person from Bujanovac to have run a 25km section of the race in an official competition.

It took her 2 hours and 41 minutes to cover the distance.

"I increased my mileage and ran this longer section of the race for the first time. The conditions were not ideal, it was too warm, but I succeeded and am pleased with the result, "Sanja said.

According to her, over 1000 competitors participated in the race and apart from Bujanovac, she also represented the Army of Serbia at the Novi Sad Marathon.  

The sports heroine is 31 years old, graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education, is a basketball coach and a fitness instructor and is employed by the Army of Serbia.
