Bujanovac – Slavoljub Ristic, the leader of the local community of the village of Ljiljance in Bujanovac, waited for more than a month for a meeting with the municipal president of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, about the asphalting of at least one village street and problems with water supply in that village. The drop that has made the glass spill over, as Mr. Ristic puts it, is the most recent cancellation of the meeting, which was properly scheduled for Monday.

“I have been trying to talk to the municipal president about the problems in the village for more than a month. Out of 9 streets in the village, only one is asphalted, while the water pump is running out, so that it can stop operating at any moment, when the whole village will be without water. I wanted to talk and try to have some of this included in the  next year’s budget, but everything is in vain, the municipal president does not have 15 minutes for our troubles, since he did not want to receive us," Mr. Ristic said.

Mr. Ristic was informed that meetings with the municipal president were "canceled due to COVID-19." He says that it is unfortunate that the municipal president does not have ten minutes to listen to someone who represents all the residents of several villages, who are only seeking asphalt in a single street and a stable water supply.

Judging by the infrastructure projects completed since July, when Mr. Arifi, with an "all-Albanian" majority, took over power in the municipality, there is time, but also asphalt, for the Albanian villages.

So far, several streets and alleys in Veliki Trnovac, as well as streets in the villages of Turija, Muhovac, Zarbinac, have been asphalted, while works have been done on the road to the mountain village of Car.
