Bujanovac –  On the occasion of the beginning of reconstruction and asphalting works on the main street in Bujanovac, the Head of Staff of the Bujanovac Mayor’s Office, Rahim Salihi, said that that undertaking was "an example of good cooperation between the local self-government and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens of the municipality".

The works on Karadjordja Petrovica Street began on Tuesday, October 1, and according to the estimates of the municipal authorities, they would take about 30 days and were fully funded from the republican budget, after the line Ministry had accepted the request of the Bujanovac Municipality.

“As I announced in July, the involvement of representatives of the municipal administration secured the financing of this significant project by the Ministry and the works have already started. The residents of Bujanovac will have a completely reconstructed main street after many years, and I hope that we will similarly cooperate with other state ministries,” Mr. Salihi said.

According to Enver Ramadani, the Head of the Municipal Development and Investment Department, the first phase of reconstruction is underway – the removal of old asphalt on a 2-kilometer stretch, from the roundabout at the entrance of the city to the health center. 

“The asphalting is the responsibility of the state-owned company “Roads of Serbia,” while the sub-contractor is the “Saba Belca” company.  It was up to us to prepare and finalize the project documentation on time,” Mr. Ramadani said.

Upon completion of the paving, the local self-government will fix up the sidewalks at its own expense, while the preparation of the project has already begun.
