The Protector of Citizens, in cooperation with the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, awards the towns, municipalities and urban municipalities for the fourth time for the highest contribution to the development of all forms of accessibility in their territory or in their environment in 2019.  

In this way, the Protector of Citizens wants to promote good practice examples in the area of accessibility at the local level, as well as to establish better cooperation with cities and municipalities in the Republic of Serbia in order to determine the situation in the area of accessibility and the reasons why the regulations guaranteeing the accessibility rights of disabled persons and persons with difficulties in moving and communicating to public facilities, offices and services. Also, this initiative will provide important information for formulating recommendations and plans for improving accessibility within the competences of cities, municipalities and urban municipalities.  

Participation in this public call is an opportunity to present the implemented initiatives of local self-governmental units, commitment to contribute to the development of accessibility and exchange of valuable experiences and examples of good practice in the area of accessibility of public facilities, offices and services to all the citizens.

The Protector of Citizens calls on local self-governmental units to apply for the public call, which will be open until March 2, 2020, so that they could contribute to promoting the design for all principle and create the environment and services that can be used by all the citizens – the inclusive environment accessible to all.
