Bujanovac – Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, hosted representatives of the local media and NGOs for the purpose of discussing the planning of the municipal budget for 2018.
Mayor Kamberi informed attendees of the event that the budget for the following year would, most likely, amount to 950 million dinars, but that it was possible that it would, for the first time, exceed 1 million dinars, provided the projects of constructing the gym at the elementary school in Veliki Trnovac and of renovating the school in the village of Biljaca were taken into account. When it comes to the capital projects that will be included in the budget, the Mayor singled out the transfer station that would solve the problem of waste disposal and city dumps, the Jugokop – Krsevica and Zarbince – Muhovac roads and the fixing of the loop at the entrance to the city.
In the new budget, the funds for agriculture will be reduced from 32.5 million dinars in 2017 to 20 million dinars. 15 million dinars will, most likely, be earmarked for the economy, while the funds intended for the media might be reduced from 7 to 5 million dinars, which is still being considered.
Mayor Kamberi failed to comment on the remark of media representatives that media associations had recommended that the amount of funds for financing the media should be 2 per cent of the total budget, which in the case of the municipality of Bujanovac amounted to about 20 million dinars. However, he said that a call for applications for financing the media would be issued as early as January.
"I am aware of all the needs, but we have to adjust and plan the budget in accordance with real possibilities," the Mayor said.
The funding for sports will be increased by one million dinars, so that it will amount to a total of 10 million dinars, while the amount for folk ensembles will remain the same – 1.7 million dinars.
When it comes to NGOs, instead of this year's 2 million dinars, an increase of 3 million dinars was planned in the 2018 budget.
