Presevo – Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that the introduction of the Interim Body in Presevo was the only mechanism that the Serbian government had at its disposal in the situation when local Assembly meetings were not held. 

”We had to introduce interim measures and I hope that the situation will soon be normalized in accordance with the results of the local elections in Presevo and with what the citizens of Presevo want,"  Prime Minister Brnabic said.

She pointed out that there had been some problems in Presevo, that the Mayor of Presevo had been changed and that meetings of the local Assembly had not been held.  

“Nevertheless, the government of the Republic of Serbia does not interfere in the issue, but that was the only thing we had to do, since the local Assembly meetings were not held," Prime Minister Brnabic said.  

According to media reports, the government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a decision on the dissolution of the Municipal Assembly of Presevo on September 14.

The tasks of the Assembly and of the executive bodies of the municipality of Presevo will be performed by the Interim Body, which shall consist of a Chairman and four members.  According to the announcement made by Ragmi Mustafa, the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA) will not participate in the operation of the Interim Body.

That party objected to the composition of the Interim Body, claiming that it did not reflect the results of the local elections at which the DPA won most Municipal Assembly seats.
