According to the Republican Statistics Office, the youngest population lives in the Pcinj district, and the eldest in the Zajecar district.
According to the Republican Statistics Office, there were nearly 39,000 more people who died than who were born in Serbia in 2017, which shows that a municipality the size of Becej or Savski venac disappears each year.
The highest birth rate in the previous year was recorded in Novi Pazar, while the fewest people were born in the municipality of Rekovac.
The average age of death was 75, while the leading causes of death were diseases of the circulatory system. Other causes of death were tumors, of which nearly 22,000 people died in the previous year.
There were slightly more than seven million inhabitants in Serbia in 2017, of whom 51 percent were women.
The average age of the population in Serbia is 43 and this figure is constantly growing. The working age population, those who are from 15 to 64 years old, makes up 66 percent of Serbia's population.
