As part of the international „EXIT“ festival inNovi Sad,a panel discussion titled "A Good Story " was held under the auspices of the Centre for the Development of Local and Minority Media.
The panel discussion was attended by editors-in-chief and representatives of minority media in Serbia, such as Hungarian, Slovak, Romanian, Russian and Albanian.
Ardjent Goga, the editor-in chief of the “Title” portal says that the gathering was very useful to him because the experiences on the work of the local minority media in Serbia were exchanged there. Mr. Goga said that he had presented at the panel discussion the way in which the portal operated, the number of visitors and the impact of the portal, the issues the portal faced in its operation and the issue of if there was censorship.
„The task of the local media is to promote the vision and ideas of young people in different areas of society, regardless of their ethnicity", said Mr. Goga and pointed out that the panel discussion was a good opportunity to improve the way of working of journalists in minority media, as well as to hear new ideas.
“For example, we have a column in Serbian on our website, while we plan to have all the news on our portal translated into Serbian. It is very important for the development of a multi-ethnic society, because it allows citizens to be informed in their own language about the news in the country, as well as about the news from the minority community", Mr. Goga stressed, pointing out that the platform for the project had already been developed, while it was only necessary to provide the financial resources for the implementation of this idea.
He also suggested that his colleagues should try to do the same in their media in order to contribute to the right manner of providing information and in order to fulfill one of the main goals of the media.
The media in minority languages had their first opportunity, through a joint promotion of their products and capabilities, to share their experiences that could contribute to the capacity building of the local minority media in Serbia.
The concept of "A Good Story" was supported by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Swiss Embassy in Belgrade.
