Bratislav Lazarevic, Secretary of the Bujanovac Red Cross, says that when it comes to the number of soup kitchen users, the soup kitchen in Novi Pazar is the only one that is larger than the Bujaanovac one.

Bujanovac – By having prepared 1,200 cooked meals, the operation of the soup kitchen of the Red Cross in Bujanovac resumed. It is the second largest soup kitchen of the 77 soup kitchens in the Republic of Serbia. Bratislav Lazarevic, Secretary of the Bujanovac Red Cross, says that when it comes to the number of soup kitchen users, the soup kitchen in Novi Pazar is the only one that is larger than the Bujaanovac one.

“It is also the only kitchen in Serbia where the local self- government does not want to finance the preparation of meals for the socially vulnerable population. The Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs allocated 9,236,000 dinars for the purchase of ten food items. Since the municipality of Bujanovac still does not want to participate in sharing the costs, the Ministry provided additional 7.82 million dinars, "Mr. Lazarevic said.

In addition to the premises of the Red Cross Branch Office in Bujanovac, food for the vulnerable citizens of the municipality of Bujanovac is distributed at the spots in the Salvatore neighborhood, Veliki Trnovac and Novo naselje. The list of soup kitchen users is formed by a commission that consists of members of the Center for Social Welfare, the Pensioners Association, the Association of Disabled Workers, the Red Cross and the municipality of Bujanovac. Vouchers for the use of the soup kitchens over the next eight months were distributed accordingly. Mr. Lazarevic says that there is a likelihood that, thanks to the help of the Ministry, the operation of the soup kitchen might be extended for another month.
