Retirees in Serbia will be paid a one-off financial assistance in the amount of 5,000 dinars around November 5. The said amount will be paid into the accounts of 1.7 million seniors a month earlier than planned, announced Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.
As the Minister pointed out, this is only the first step towards making pensioners better off and the payments would not have been done without the consolidation of public finances and if we had not gone through a difficult period of reforms, which started in 2014.
As with previous payments, all Pension and Disability Insurance Fund beneficiaries will receive the money, regardless of their place of residence, and all payment costs will be borne by the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund. The amount of 5,000 dinars will be first received by those who get their pensions through their current accounts, then through post office counters and, finally, about 420,000 pensioners to whom the money is brought to their home addresses by the postman.
