Presevo – Pregnant women from both the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac are taken care of at the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo, which is the “youngest” outpatient maternity ward in Serbia, as it started operating in July 2015. Nine babies have been born there since the beginning of the year.

Mert Berisha, the first baby that was born at the outpatient maternity ward, is a year and a half old now. During that time, another several hundred babies were born at the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo.

The outpatient maternity ward in Presevo has two rooms for childbirth, a mobile and a static incubator, four rooms for the rehabilitation of patients and rooms for the nurses.

“No outpatient maternity hospital in the country has an operating room, nor is blood transfusion given or anesthesia administered there. All women who give birth naturally remain with us. There have been no complications so far, "Mitat Sahiti, MD, a specialist in gynecology, says.

Women in labor are taken care of by three gynecologists from this institution. However, due to the lack of medical personnel, doctors from Bujanovac and Vranje have to come here.  There are ten nurses employed at the outpatient maternity ward, as well as five of them at the women’s clinic.

Fljora Nedzipi from Presevo is expecting her first child and she wants to give birth to the child here.

“I am being treated here, the nurses are friendly and the doctors are good. I am satisfied with both the medical devices and the doctors, "Fjlora Nedzipi says.

“The conditions are excellent here. I regularly come for check-ups, the medical staff is pleasant and helpful,” Ferida Redzepi from Presevo says.

At the moment, there are three women doctors specializing in Nis, while their return to Presevo is expected in a two years’ time.
