Bujanovac – “The policing in the municipality of Bujanovac was successful over the past year. All four crimes were resolved, "said Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, after the end of his visit to the police station in Bujanovac.
"We talked with representatives of the Police Department in Vranje, the Police Station in Bujanovac and the local self-government about what we could jointly do to improve the general safety and security. The most important thing is that the citizens, regardless of their nationality, should have confidence in the police, as well as in each other. It isn’t possible to do it overnight, but making positive steps over a specific period of time is expected, provided we work on it, "said Minister Stefanovic.
He said that the topics discussed at a meeting held at the Bujanovac police station included the clearing up of the aggravated robberies "that took place in a community."
“We want to show that we care about everyone. The citizens should perceive their police officers as good and honorable people that are willing to help everyone and the citizens’ opinion of their police officers mustn’t depend on their nationality. We also talked about the need of improving the multi-ethnic make-up of the police or about the increased participation of the Albanians in it, "Minister Stefanovic said. He said that the migrant crisis, too, was discussed, as well as the provision and installation of security cameras in the city.
“We expect the local self-government to assist with that,” said the Minister at the end of his visit to Bujanovac.
