Presevo – Defense Minister Zoran Djordjevic and the Chief of Staff of the Army of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic visited the Joint Forces of the Army of Serbia and the Interior Ministry engaged in securing the state border at Miratocako polje near Presevo.

General Dikovic said that the task of members of the Joint Forces of the Army of Serbia and the Interior Ministry was neither easy nor simple, but that "we can be satisfied with the work of members of the Serbian Army and police," it was said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense. 

“This is corroborated by the fact that we have prevented more than 12,000 people from illegally crossing the border and uncontrollably entering the territory of the Republic of Serbia, "said General Dikovic, adding that an increase in the number of migrants on the state border between Serbia and Bulgaria and Serbia and Macedonia was expected.

According to him, the estimates are made on a daily basis and on the basis of the measures proposed by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, for the purpose of protecting the state border.

The Minister of Defense and the Military Chief of Staff agreed in their assessment that the Joint Forces of the Army of Serbia and the Interior Ministry engaged in securing the state border performed all the tasks effectively and professionally, including proper preparations for the upcoming winter season.
