Bujanovac, Belgrade – Milan Krkobabic, Minister without Portfolio, who is in charge of regional development and coordination of the operation of public enterprises, said for TV "Pink" that many villages in Serbia were empty, especially those in the Pcinj District, and added that there were 630,000 family farms in our country, where 1.4 million people lived and worked.
The Minister said that small farms in Serbia had been neglected for years, noting that the establishment of rural cooperatives was a solution for the Serbian village.
Underscoring that small farms had not been visible until then, Minister Krkobabic explained that the aim of cooperatives was to make it possible for small producers to market their products, thereby reviving the Serbian village.
He said that they had already established two cooperatives, one of which would deal with the herbs and the other one that would deal with beekeeping, and stressed that the subsidy for the establishment of new cooperatives was up to 50,000 euros.
