“No one in our country deserves to live in these conditions and that is why, as a state, we will do our best to help these children have far better living conditions. The Government of the Republic of Serbia will provide support and assistance not only to this family, but also to every family in Serbia in accordance with its capabilities. We want our citizens to live better and have the best conditions in their country,” Minister Djordjevic said.
According to the Ministry, Minister Djordjevic also visited the Medvedja Social Work Center and the local branch of the National Employment Office, where he discussed the possibilities of involving young people in economic activities.
He emphasized that the Ministry would provide necessary support in drawing up the social card of Medvedja and in encouraging entrepreneurship.
“It is a priority of the Government of Serbia to reduce the departure of young people and keep them in the country by improving their living and working conditions. We will take all measures to enable young people in the municipality of Medvedja to live and work, be happy and satisfied there and thus build their families and have a better future there, "Minister Djordjevic said.
Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, said that the municipality donates backpacks and textbooks to each first grade student and provides free transportation to both elementary and secondary school students.
“We have increased benefits for every newborn baby by 100 percent. Children are our greatest asset and we try to keep as many of them as possible, or we try to keep their parents, so that they could raise them in their own country, "Mayor Arsic said, adding that there would be more first graders sitting in Medvedja's school benches this year than last year.
The municipality of Medvedja was also visited by the Acting Assistant Minister in the Sector for Protection of Persons with Disabilities, Biljana Barošević, it was said in the statement.
