Ambassador Michael Davenport, the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, will visit Bujanovac on June 7, 2016, where he will visit the projects funded by the European Union and meet with the Mayors of Bujanovac and Presevo.
Ambassador Michael Davenport, the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, will visit Bujanovac on June 7, 2016, where he will visit the projects funded by the European Union and meet with the Mayors of Bujanovac and Presevo. Ambassador Davenport will participate in the Stakeholders Committee’s meeting on the project of the Subotica Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac, and will also meet with Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.
Ambassador Davenport, along with the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, will talk with male and female students of the “Naim Fraseri” primary school from the Albanian community, who took part in the project of learning Serbian as a second language, and will also exchange his impressions with male and female students of the “Saint Sava” and “Sezaj Suroi” secondary schools on establishing cooperatives, writing and printing a bilingual magazine and producing souvenirs.
The European Union and the Government of Switzerland support the activities of the European Progress, which is a program that contributes to the sustainable development of the southern and south-western Serbia, with a total of 24.46 million euros. The program aims to develop the local administration, create a more favourable environment for the development of infrastructure and economy and improve the implementation of policies in the field of social inclusion. Field activities are implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The municipalities covered by the program include- Novi Pazar, Ivanjica, Nova Varos, Priboj, Prijepolje, Raska, Sjenica and Tutin in the southwest of Serbia, as well as Prokuplje, Blace, Zitoradja, Kursumlija, Leskovac, Bojnik, Vlasotince, Lebane, Medvedja, Crna Trava, Vranje, Bosilegrad, Bujanovac, Vladicin Han, Presevo, Surdulica, Trgoviste, Brus, Aleksinac, Gadzin Han, Doljevac, Merosina, Svrljig, Babusnica, Bela Palanka and Knjazevac in the south-eastern part of the country.
